Windows 10 Help with new monitor

As a update, BenQ have agreed to replace the monitor even though it is out of warranty and they're going to arrange for collection and delivery at the same time. I think that’s great! Sent from my iPad using WindowsForum

Windows 10 Help with new monitor

Many thanks for the responses. The fact that the same problem occurs using DVI on the 2nd PC with a different cable but works ok using an HDMI connection on the same GPU, and both DVI ports on the GPUs work ok with my old monitor, I think it pretty much proves the problem to a faulty DVI port on...

Windows 10 Help with new monitor

I found the display driver files in the Windows 32 directory. I uninstalled the driver and the screen went into low resolution, I rebooted and the driver seemed to reinstall itself but it didn’t fix the problem. Benq say it's the graphics card that's the problem because before loading windows...

Windows 10 Help with new monitor

There’s an AMD folder under Program Files but there’s nothing in it that look like driver files, just 3 files aml.kbd, amdocl_as.exe and amdocl_ld.exe. There’s an AMD folder under ProgramData but it’s completely empty. Sent from my iPad using WindowsForum

Windows 10 Help with new monitor

Many thanks for the responses guys. Obviously I can’t check the driver in normal mode with the new monitor connected but in safe mode the Display adapter shows as ATI Radeon HD 3600 Series and the monitor shows as Generic PnP Monitor. With the old monitor connected in normal mode they both say...

Windows 10 Help with new monitor

The monitor I've been using is an old Benq Q24W5 with an ATI Radeon HD 3600 Series graphics card set to 1920x1200. I've been given a more up to date Benq SW2700PT monitor but I can’t get it to work. It's ok when the PC boots up but as soon as Windows 10 starts to load it turns off saying there's...

Windows 7 "This content cannot be displayed in a frame"

I get reports of people receiving the above error when accessing my website North Hampshire Organists' Association on Windows 7 using Internet Explorer but works ok on other browsers. I don't get the error myself so I can't directly investigate it. I tried Googling the issue but all the results...

    Windows 7 Sound Problem

Sorry about my delay. Headphones are connected at the front and the problem has been there as long as I can remember and maybe since it was new. A bad socket was my first thought but then if it was was I would expect to hear the sound break up at least a little bit when I jiggle the plug around...

    Windows 7 Sound Problem

Hi Pauli, Thanks for your response, I should have said that it's the same with any headphones so appears to be on the system somewhere. Not sure what to check in BIOS, I can't see anything relating to sound specifically. How do I tell if I have SPDIF connected? There are no HDMI interfaces on...

    Windows 7 Sound Problem

Can anybody advise please on a sound problem that I've lived with for years and never found a solution to, even though I listen to music a lot. The problem only occurs when listening on headphones, the speakers are ok. I tend to leave the headphones plugged in to avoid disturbance but there's...

Windows 7 Plagued with constant audio noise

Even though I had made countless Google searches before posting this I found nothing that worked, mainly suggesting things like latency issues, power settings and bios settings. It was suggestions on here that made me think about possible inherent noise issues on my specific motherboard and...

Windows 7 Plagued with constant audio noise

Many thanks for the help but I've now fixed the problem, all I needed to do was mute the speaker beep in the speaker properties - all the noise disappeared (see www.youtube.com/watch?v=krGzP8uaAKg). I would never have thought of that! Sent from my iPad using WindowsForum

Windows 7 Plagued with constant audio noise

Wow, many thanks for that Fixer. I'll have to think about each one and try them out. I don't have a compatible spare video card to try but it may be worth getting a cheap one to test it. Sent from my iPad using WindowsForum
