Have you set your remote desktop "server" to allow connections from all versions of remote desktop? I set that option on, and could rdesktop from another machine on my network immediately

I have too many operating systems to take care of for my own good, my wife and children use XP on their machines. I dual boot between Vista home and Ubutnu on my laptop, Vista Ultimate and Windows 7 on my desktop box, and XP at work. I still love XP for its small(er than Vista) memory footprint

If ffdshow doesn't help then ignore my comment about codecs, from your description is sounds like macroblock decoding went awry. However, if it isn't decoding, then it must be rendering. Is the DirectX the "stock" directX ?
