    Hi, Thanks for your comments. Yes the culprit was the the logitech software and the bluetooth tongle trying to upgrade to USB 3 which will not work with my mouse and keyboard combo I have. So removed set point and now all good. Thanks for your help.

    I have w.8.1 but I am unable to type letters as Windows live loses focus after about five key strokes.
