***Bump***, I really dont want to start a new thread. It has been FOREVER and this problem still persists. I installed a new clean copy of XP too. it STILL freezes. HP really needs to make better laptops.

I would if I could even get in. Now it just does not even turn on. I press the power button and it goes on an right back off. If it does turn on after I pres it for a bit, it stays a black screen and eventually turns off and won't go back on.

The laptop is known for having heating issues. it says on the site. It doesnt bother me because yes i do have a cooling pad and is does not really make a difference. the laptop is just naturally hot. I still have no clue whats wrong and im gettting sick of having to use my moms computer

I called the support desk but they never help and they offered me a $260 repair, which never works since i had a repair twice and it never fixes the problem. I ran Everest a long time ago and the cpu was not too hot unless it was sitting on like a bed for awhile.
