A bump for this thread.... I got my 855GM working on Win 7 RC using the driver and info in this thread: Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller Driver Issues - Page 5 - Windows 7 Forums Any questions please feel free to ask.
Still can't believe that they've still not resolved this issue! Thanks for the warning, was just about to install the RC edition on my Dell D400 - don't think I'll bother now. pixed - does anything in this thread help...
Is anyone able to report if a working driver for the 852GM/852GME/855GM/855GMEchipset has been included on any of the latest Windows 7 builds? Many thanks in advance. :D
You're welcome! Enjoy! :D Is you Intel SpeedStep working? My D400 was getting quite hot, and had to install RMClock to get the cpu to clock back to 600Mhz when not under load. Without RMClock my cpu clocks at 1.7Ghz all the time, generating a fair amount of heat from the vents the right hand...
Not sure to be honest. But what I do know is that I've restarted my system quite a few times now and not had to alter my boot time settings (via F8) at all. RMClock works just fine.
Ah right, that explains it then..... The one I'm using probably hasn't got the signed driver(s), but works because I've disabled driver signing. You can disable driver signing by pressing F8 at Boot and select the relevant option from the menu that comes up.
Windows 7 does have drivers for the Intel PRO 2200BG wireless network adapter. I've got one of these installed in my Dell Latitude D400. W7 installed the driver from Windows Update.
I discovered the other day that my Dell Latitude D400 (Intel 855GM chipset) was not being throttled back to 600Mhz when the load on the CPU was low. Instead it was pegged at 1700Mhz. Unfortunately it looks like Windows 7 doesn't support CPU scaling on the Centrino / Pentium M based systems...
Looks like Intel 855gm. My Dell D400 has the same DEV number. Maybe this thread will help: http://windows7forums.com/windows-7-hardware/751-video-compatibility-intel-852gm-852gme-855gm-855gme.html
Last time I tried to assess my windows performance with the XP driver my system hung - so no change for me there. I don't think this was supposed to be a perfect solution, but it's certainly a damn sight easier than messing about trying to force the XP drivers to work. Did you get DivX...
