Windows 7 Getting continual Updates on every shutdown.

You have my sympathy and complete understanding, as I too went through this and lived with it for a while. The problem was that I was not getting the "real" updates. Eventually I decided to bite the bullet and called Microsoft tech support. As usual I ended up talking to someone in Banglalore...

Windows 7 Access denied to administrator in CMD window

I am using the only account in my Win 7 system, which is an Administrator acct. When I open the CMD window (right click - use as administrator, just to be sure) and type chkdsk I am denied access and told to "invoke this utility running in administrator mode," but it already is in that mode, as...

Windows 7 Lost Rules and Alerts

I had a copy of the pst file and pointed to it in Outlook Account Settings. All the messages appeared in their appropriate folders, bu no Rules and Alerts. I had thought they would appear with everthing else when I "showed Outlook the way."

Windows 7 Lost Rules and Alerts

I am sorry. I did not state my question clearly enough. I had a bucket-load of Rules and Alerts that I had set up and they have disappeared.

Windows 7 Lost Rules and Alerts

I recently had a glitch in my Outlook 2010 and had to redo the email accounts, and indicate the appropriate pst file. All is well except that I have lost all the Rules and Alerts. Where are they and how do I get them back?

Windows 7 .net framework 4 still a problem

As reported so often here by others, I just cannot stop Windows Update trying to update .net framework 4 files every night. I have followed all the suggestions I have seen here and on other forums, to no avail. Uninstall and reinstall (Y); total scan with three programs (Y); various...

Windows 7 Organizing libraries for streaming from WMP

I want to view photos on a desktop on my tv. The network is set up and I can see WMP on my TV. The problem is that, although my playlists are in separate folders, the TV sees all the photos as though they were in one folder. Can someone please tell me the organizing steps in WMP to avoid this?

Windows 7 Picture order in desktop background changer

Well, well. After playing around with this for ages, well, days, I went back to it after starting this thread and the problem has self-corrected. It is as though there was a very long lag time for windows to recognize my file-order change. Anyway, I think the problem has gone away.

Windows 7 Picture order in desktop background changer

I have a folder full of images that I use for my desktop background changer (from the Control Panel in Win7 Home Premium-32). It works fine, but when I change the image order in the folder itself (by putting numbers at the start of file names), that does not appear in the background changer...

Windows 7 Windows Media Player will not start in Windows 7 Home Premium

Yes, I have gone back one update but I am loathe to go too far back or I will lose so much that I have done in the interval?

Windows 7 Windows Media Player will not start in Windows 7 Home Premium

I have run wmplayer /new with no result. I have a piece of software called "What's my computer doing now?" and there is no sign of WMP in action after typing that. I am running sfc /scannow now but there is nothing to be seen so far. The Event Viewer does not shine any light.

Windows 7 Windows Media Player will not start in Windows 7 Home Premium

I have a problem that I have seen raised in forums over the last few years, but never with a solution. After running fine ever since I installed Win7 when it first became available, WMP now will not start. I have tried running the dll from the command box as an administrator. I have tried...

Windows 7 Drive labeling confusion in Disk Management

This little episode started when I decided to remove two 200GB drives from my computer and put in 500GB ones. These were previously in a Drobo (Drobo Products) which, if you are not familiar with it, is an external drive enclosure that (in my Mark 1 version) takes up to four 1TB drives. It...

Windows 7 Drive labeling confusion in Disk Management

Sounds as though I should stay with what I have got, as it is working well. The Drobo (Drive G.) is a mystery. If you are not familiar with it, it is a drive enclosure into which one can plug any drive (in my [original] version, up to four x 1TB) and they are recognized and formatted. They...

Windows 7 Drive labeling confusion in Disk Management

Thank you for going to the trouble to lay this out. It looks as though my Drive D: (see image) that is labelled as "Healthy (Logical Drive)" should be better labelled as a "Healthy (Primary Partition)"? How do I do that? I am assuming I could change the order of my drives, in terms of drive...
