i'm not using homegroup and have no zonealarm installed. I'm just trying to setup a simple workgroup. It shouldnt be this awkward!

....or should it? It should be setting up a workgroup. Then enabling sharing on the folder(s) Then do the same on the other machines And there its done! Why the heck, doesnt it work??? (might as well set up a domain to share files???)

es, i've performed all the basics

I've setup the basics, I.e: Ip address, default gateway, etc. But for the hell of me, it doesnt network! I cant see my desktop through my laptop and vice versa. Is it much different to network as it was from the XP days?

go to a site called dll-files.com and type in the missing dll file and it gives you it for free. Try it and let me know! i've not tried it but came across it through a net search for myself!
