Yes, I have tried dism since I posted this thread. No luck. I ended up doing a clean install of the OS and spending hours recovering whatever files I could for a very angry customer :(
I had a virtual machine running on a customer's computer, and I needed to reinstall it. I removed the drive from the computer so I could copy a new VHD from my laptop to the drive. IIt kept telling me that the recycle bin on the drive was corrupt and would not let me copy over the VHD unless I...
It's definitely a corrupt registry. I copied the registry files over from a fresh Windows XP installation (on the same disk) and the OS booted without an issue. However, a lot of the programs previously installed do not work without the original registry files. In addition, a lot of the...
I am setting up a virtual machine to host a Windows XP environment with specific legacy software to replace a customer's broken Dell MTC2 desktop. I used Disk2vhd to generate a VHD from the customer's IDE hard disk and created the virtual machine with VirtualBox. The system begins to boot but...
I got the RAM from Amazon. You can see the details in my response to ubuysa. I also got it from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09HKDQ1RN This is very interesting. This laptop is refurbished. I wonder if they used the wrong memory modules. It was refurbished by an HP certified...
I do not believe so. I cannot even find the option in the BIOS. Speaking of the which, I also removed the CMOS battery for a few minutes to reset the BIOS. It didn't help :/
I am just using the "Create Windows 10 Installation Media" tool from Microsoft's website: Download Windows 10 It typically gives me the 0xc0000005 error on the "Getting files ready for installation" step. The BSOD has only happened a few times, but I believe it happened during that step as...
I just use FFmpeg. It's a command-line utility but I'm sure you could find GUI interfaces for it on GitHub. You can also use VLC to convert media files.
That pesty 0xc0000005 error keeps coming up during windows installation as well. Yes, I did replace the RAM with brand new sticks. I believe they are compatible. The laptop takes DDR4 PC4-19200 2400MHz Non-ECC SODIMM, and these are the new sticks I purchased...
Two years later... I replaced the internal SSD and tried to install Windows, but it is not working. I am getting the following error: I tried replacing the RAM and well but to no avail. Is the processor failing? (I hope not 😰)
Hello, I am trying to import a scheduled task from from the command line to the task scheduler. Before my program runs the schtasks command, it inserts a file path in the <Command></Command> element. The XML file works with schtasks before I insert my file path, but not afterwords. It keeps...
That does not appear to be the correct model. This laptop's model is HP ENVY Notebook 15T-AS100. Also, I do not think I will be able to run chkdsk again. I cannot use Active Boot Disk anymore. It is starting to give me BSOD errors as well. Assuming we do find the correct drivers, how can I...
Active Boot Disc does have a chkdsk command. I gave it a try. Here's the output: The type of the file system is NTFS. Volume label is Windows. Stage 1: Examining basic file system structure ... Progress: 0 of 538624 done; Stage: 0%; Total: 0%; ETA: 268:21:16 Progress: 144 of 538624 done; Stage...
