If I turn off my "connect automatically" option for my wifi networks, will that keep me offline even after the restarts that happen during the installation?

I tried this approach and after a lengthy process of watching screen timers go from 0 to 100%, the installer eventually just stopped and said "We've had a problem and are restoring your previous version." Took me right back where I started. I had UEFI but no TPM and my CPU was not on their list.
