Drew, and to any other Sony VAIO customers that have this issue and want it corrected. That little gadget bar is a total annoyance. To get rid of the bar, you go to msconfig, such as you and Omegatron suggested. From there, under the "Startup" tab is a program called "VAIO Mode Switch"...
