Thanks!!! It worked for me! I used the local printer, Dot4001 option, selected HP, then Photosmart 7200 series, and it printed a test page perfectly the first time. Thank you everyone for the discovery and for taking the time to give instructions! So nice to have the old printer working...

OK, can I please ask you to spoon feed it to me? I just got Vista, have a Photosmart 1215, and Vista won't let me search for a driver for a USB printer. I go to "add printer" and it goes looking for a generic IEEE driver without giving me a chance to specify what printer (e.g. 7200) to look for...
