I'm generally not one to use utilities like that. Sometimes they screw up more stuff than they fix. What's your opinion of Advanced System Care? It was strongly recommended by a friend.

I think we're a bit OT here. More troubling than that one update is why the other Windows 10 patches didn't apply.

I did a fresh install of the utility on a clean install of Windows 10. I've seen cases before where programs rely on legacy code and redistributables, so I'm guessing that's what's going on here.

That update was triggered by Extensis Suitcase font manager. I wound up reverting to a 'vanilla' clean install of 10 and I'm in the process of reinstalling all my apps. It's a total PITA and I surely hope Microsoft will reconsider this ill-advised strategy of forcing updates.
