You're Invited: Windows-Forums.com Skype Webcast Meeting on July 7, 2012

When my calendar alerted me to the July 7 meeting at 8pm EDT, I dutifully got to a wi-fi location to find... nothing. No message confirming, canceling or rescheduling. What gives, guys? We watched the video at You're Invited: Windows-Forums.com Skype Webcast Meeting on July 7, 2012 - YouTube...

Windows 7 MS Windows 7 Backup vs MS Synctoy

Windows Backup or other backup programs copy and compress some or all of your files. SyncToy 2.1 (found in Windows Downloads) keeps the files in all or some folders on two drives (or computers) in sync. Using a backup program (Cyberlink's PowerBackup 2.5), I do a full backup once a month and a...

Windows 7 windows 7 hibernate problem

I do keep Skype open all the time. I'll see if closing it solves the problem. Windows 7 SP1 didn't do so.

Windows 7 Audio/video Buffer Overload Since Installing SP1

I have been getting buffer overload indications since installing SP1 on February 23, 2011. I experience it listening to videos on various news websites and to podcasts in iTunes. Here is what happens: - the pointer freezes, - a lound audio feedback signal is heard with very slow audio from...

Windows 7 Notes on Windows 7 Service Pack 1 - Installed Early This Morning

The only problem I experienced since installing SP1 was that I got a loud audio feedback and a frozen mouse for several seconds a couple times a day. It occurred when I was listening to music or podcasts with the latest versions of iTunes and Realplayer. To fix it I went to Realtek and updated...

Windows 7 Notes on Windows 7 Service Pack 1 - Installed Early This Morning

Yep. Windows Update is set to check for updates daily. SP1 was an 86MB file. The update took around 20 minutes. The time I was talking about in the OP was the regular restart time after SP1. It seems more like 3 min 47 secs now.

Windows 7 windows 7 hibernate problem

The problem existed with me for the past few months when SP1 was not installed. I just installed SP1 last night when it finally came up on the normal daily Windows Update. Have to see if the suspended state dark screen problem continues.

Windows 7 Notes on Windows 7 Service Pack 1 - Installed Early This Morning

Win7SP1 came up as a Windows automatic update last night so I installed it and have done three restarts and one more "check for updates" now to insure it has settled down. For major updates it is a good idea to watch the CPU Usage History graph in the Performance Tab of Task Manager so you know...

Windows 7 windows 7 hibernate problem

I haven't installed Win7HP64 SP1 yet. Will do it when MS Auto Update does it. It began having the dark screen suspended state problem after one of the routine MS updates a couple months ago. I think it is a conflict with one of the 68+ processes Task Manager indicates are running. As Win7...

Windows 7 Event Viewer win 7

I get it too. Just a small bug. I kill it with Task Manager. On a separate issue, Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc) is one of those executables that has a 32-bit version and a 64-bit version in the system32 and SysWOW64 folder, respectively. Why does Win7 64-bit Admnistrative Tools control panel...

Windows 7 windows 7 hibernate problem

Citrix, I have the same dilemma, but, it doesn't really go to sleep or hibernate. The screen goes dark (and won't rebrighten), but the activity light never goes dark or to blinking sleep mode. It happens randomly about 15% of the times the laptop goes to sleep or hibernate - sometimes when I...

Windows 7 How to Reduce Size of Fixed Window for Small Screens So OK and Cancel Buttons Are Visible??

Thanks, but as I mentioned, the tops and bottoms of some these fixed windows extend above and below the screen. Others don't permit the up/down sizing arrows. Guess it may be time for MS to go out to developers with new sizing guidance for fixed screens now that netbooks are becoming popular.

Windows 7 How to Reduce Size of Fixed Window for Small Screens So OK and Cancel Buttons Are Visible??

I use a small computer with a 10.1" diagonal screen. Many applications like Acrobat (for the Properties window), Quicken (for several windows like Schedule Bill or Deposits) and some Quicktime settings windows have fixed window sizes that extend off the top and bottom of screen. Win7 does not...
