    Thanks for the quick response Trouble. Perhaps I should have been bit more clearer in my post, what I have is a win 7 pro OEM disk and a separate disk which I had burned the SP1 iso onto. My thinking is like yours as to why do all that updating when all i should have to do it just run the SP1...

    So I will be doing a new install of win7 pro x64 on my newly built rig. My questions should i go ahead and do the install and then install SP1 or install, get updates and wait until SP1 is pushed. I have a disk with the full SP1.

    Trying to help a friend figure out why when she re-sizes her windows they don't stay. Seems like when you size a window and then close it it will open full size. All programs do this so it is baffling me. any thoughts on what to check?

    Yes if your not concerned with wiping out your current os and want to start with a clean slate. just do the "double install" as per the steps Link Removed due to 404 Error Just substitute windows 7 for vista. And it does work. Im using it on my desktop to type this.

    All you can do is back them up along with the data. You will have to reinstall everything with a clean install.

    You can reload on a fresh format as many times as you like, so that will not be an issue. Another thing you can do is just remove the XP listing from the boot sequence. Since you had XP on first you will need to do a repair on the 7 install to rebuild the boot file. and then open up Disk...
