The OP made several mistakes. The first was that he evidently tried to do a upgrade of Win7 RC over XP. We all know that will not work. If he tried to do a clean install of the RC he clearly did not bother to check if there were going to be any driver issues, etc. Had he run the Upgrade Advisor...
Going into sleep mode could be what is happening as well. Make sure you have checked when that is happening, as I think 2 hours is the default time frame. I have found sleep mode with Win7 64 works very well on my Dell XPS 1530. I have it set for 5 hours. It goes to sleep and wakes up flawlessly.
First place to check is your drivers. If Win7 drivers are not available, use Vista drivers (32bit or 64bit based on version of Win7 you are using.) Check you cpu cooling fan. Sounds like the cpu maybe overheating. Memory or southbridge could also be overheating.
I must agree 100%. When XP64 first came on the scene getting driver support was very difficult. However, that was then and this is now. 64bit computing is the wave of the future and before we know it we won't remember what a 32bit OS was. I've run Win7 64 on my labtop and desktop and have had...
I had issues with COD4 with the Microsoft Vista nVidia drivers as well. I downloaded and installed the Vista 64 drivers from Dell and COD4 work normally. Dell has modified it' nVidia chip cards. The only dirvers that are guaranteed to work are the Dell drivers.
You can disable IPv6 on your network card from within Win7. That's what I did and thus far I have not had any further router issues. W7 loads IPv4 and IPv6 by default. With older routers it seems the IPv6 is causing issues.
It does seem to be IPv6 which is the problem. After disabling IPv6 I have not had a problem with Wi-fi. This may well be fixed when Win7 goes Gold. As for now it's the type of issue you have beta's for.
Mine is version 6. When I got up this morning I had to reboot to get Wi-fi back. I don't think V6 has the IP6 option, I'll check and if it does, try disabling. Really is a strange issue.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to learn. But the questions you are asking are beginner's questions and running a beta OS is not for the faint of heart or beginners. It sounds like you are wanting to put Win7 on your primary system and that is going to cause you nothing but...
