Use motherboard USB I had this problem yesaterday and read that one of the things to try is to use only a direct motherboard USB port - typically on the back of your PC. I moved my cable back there and it all sync'd and worked great this morning: Win 7 Premium 64-bit and iTunes 9.0.2.

I have this issue. I installed Win7 Premium 64-bit over weekend. Then I installed iTunes 9, then connected iphone 3GS. First thing it did was tell me that new software was available so I let it update my phone to 3.1.2 - then I wiped the device to let it start fresh.... I set all correct options...
