    You should not have to. I bought an upgrade disc (64-bit) and was able to perform a clean install with no OS present.

    What version of Win7 are you using? With Windows 7 Pro (32 bit), the logitech software works without a issue. Try creating a VM with the 32 bit version and install the software. See if that fixes the issues.

    I found the fix on someone's blog. This worked like a charm on Windows 7 Pro. I'm sure it'll work with other versions.
