Windows 7 Strange font choice in Microsoft Word Viewer

Two of my teachers gave me .doc files for something or another, and both of these files have a strange problem I've never seen before: Microsoft Word Viewer has apparently decided that it doesn't know what to do with certain text elements, and so it decides to display them in the MaplePi font...

Windows 7 Install sheild wizard freeze. Can't install anything. Plz help freaking out.

@pcs: Bad idea. Something seems very suspicious about a site where every piece of text and comment is generic and every page looks exactly the same.

    Windows 7 Problem with Chkdsk

You did install Windows onto the new hard drive, right? Just making sure. =P To me, it doesn't sound like CHKDSK is the problem. It sounds like whatever happens after CHKDSK is locking up.

Windows 7 Install sheild wizard freeze. Can't install anything. Plz help freaking out.

If the InstallShield process froze, I doubt you'll make things any worse by killing the process, so try this: Open up the Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) and switch to the Processes tab and look for the InstallShield process. I don't know what it will be called. Hopefully it will say...

Windows 7 Music Library showing as Unspecified

I don't think I fully understand the issue. Where does it say "unspecified?" Are you able to open the library? The "Libaries" on Windows 7 are virtual folders. What they do is show files from other folders on your system. You should be able to find most of what's in the Music Library here...

    Windows 7 Unusual PopUp message

It being a Windows message is highly unlikely, considering you're Link Removed - Invalid URL to ever say anything about this message. But that message reminds me of something: I interned for a short while at a company that used a software called LabTech to provide customers with tech support...

Windows 7 Catch 22: System Restore and CHKDSK

As someone who spends 90% of his time on the computer, there's a lot of stuff on it that I can't bear to lose. I ended up replacing my hard drive. It kinda worked out nicely; my new hard drive is bigger and quieter, and I was able to give Linux a much bigger partition this time. But I think...

Windows 7 Catch 22: System Restore and CHKDSK

Exactly what I was hoping not to hear. Except for cost, replacing the hard drive is about equivalent to starting all over with a new computer. Although I guess investing in something like one of those USB hard drive shells for transferring files could make it suck less, assuming that it will...

Windows 7 Catch 22: System Restore and CHKDSK

Really fun things happen if your laptop falls off the bed while you're asleep. In Windows, I can no longer log off/reboot/shut down normally (Linux, however, is fine). Also, if I put my laptop to sleep in Windows, it will inexplicably refuse to wake up (again, Linux can wake up just fine...

Windows 7 Laptop freezes after plugged in

Mitchell:The closest thing I could find to CPU throttling was "Maximum Processor State", which was 100% for both battery and mains. Windows 7 has been reinstalled. All things considered, I now see that reinstalling Windows really isn't that painful of a process after all. All your files...

Windows 7 Laptop freezes after plugged in

McAfee isn't disabled by Safe Mode either, so I don't think that's it. Being plugged in does not prevent it from booting. Saltgrass, I'm not sure what software you're referring to being on both computers. I went on online chat with a Dell representative. After discussing the problem, he came...

Windows 7 Laptop freezes after plugged in

Still crashed under each of those circumstances. I also did a few other things: For one, I checked Safe Mode again to make sure, and it does not crash in Safe Mode. I also disabled charging in BIOS and was going to check whether or not it still crashed when plugged in, but I was interrupted...

Windows 7 Laptop freezes after plugged in

This is a followup to the following topic: http://windows7forums.com/windows-7-support/42072-gadgets-load-improperly.html The gadget problem no longer occurs, but the general problem is the same: On my sister's laptop (an Inspiron 14), everything boots up fine but after a while of use, one...

Windows 7 Disable auto-click (point to select)

I don't think it's possible. Microsoft does not have separate click options for files and folders (though that would be a nice feature). Perhaps you can try looking into other file explorers? The closest I can find is this registry hack. It disables pointing to select. Single-Click Mode...
