I ended up having to do a complete reinstall. The refresh didn't seem to like that it was on a virtual partition. I also tried to reload it with Power Shell from Windows 7 which contains the virtual partition. It loaded and I could see all my stuff but when I booted it, it hung on configuring...
It's and older install and everything was fine. Since the first post I think I figured out that it happened when I updated my video drivers. I didn't notice it until I went into admin tools because all of the metro icons are fine. Anyway, I tried to roll back the driver and it won't because...
My icons that are regular windows icons are showing up like they are blank. They really are not but they are covered up by and blank white graphic. I tried deleting the icons cache and that didn't work. Otherwise everything else works fine. Any ideas on how to repair it? Thanks
I fixed this but in a strange way. I went to my other computer with Outlook installed which was working correctly and used Easy Transfer in System tools to only transfer system settings. You have to go into the customize option to make sure that it doesn't transfer anything that you don't...
Thanks for the quick response. I should have been more clear in my post. I have single click enabled on my desktop so just hovering selects the file. Also, all of the handlers were working including PDFs but for some reason just stopped. I have NitroPDF and it installed a handler which I...
When I hover over a file that is supposed to have a preview option in Windows Explorer, the preview pane in explorer is blank. If I hover over a file that doesn’t have a preview handler, it says “Preview not available” However the preview of images does work. Office files and PDFs won’t...
This just started recently. Most messages come through with images but certain ones, and it seems to be from the same senders, the just have a place marker......the little box with the red X. The pic below is from Woot.com. If I open the email in another email program, the images are there...
OK here is what I get. C:\Users\Greg>^VBCDedit '▬BCDedit' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. C:\Users\Greg>BCDedit Windows Boot Manager -------------------- identifier {bootmgr} device partition=C: path...
It's a Satellite and that is the model number. Here is a link on amazon and a screenshot. Amazon.com: Toshiba A215-S5837 Satellite 15.4" Widescreen Laptop, AMD Athlon: Computer & Accessories Right now just running Firefox. But it is cooler with the older video driver.
OK, I did put the older video diver on it and it is running cooler. But what the heck.......didn't want to say what I really wanted to say. That should not be an issue. It's an ATI chip but that should not make the processor run hot. Still hot, 168 but should still be cooler.
Yes the fan runs faster under Linux. I just booted off of a CD but it seems to control it. I can't figure out why Windows doesn't speed up the fan when needed. I am guessing the hardware is working because Linux can speed it up. The bios in this machine is very basic. I can't find any temp...
There are no fan options on anything that I can find other than Active under Processor Management in Windows. However, I am going to back up my video driver and see what that does. I'll let you know.
Thanks for your thoughts. I know it is is running hot. I got a fan on it right now. Just wondering why Windows isn't spinning up the fan. I get in to the BIOS and there is nothing that I can do. It's really basic. Nothing about temp.
