Many thanks for your valued advice. My PC is now behaving normally thank goodness! When I did have the Creators Update installed I did notice that Windows startup was considerably faster, not that startup using the old build was terribly slow.
Before I read your post I tried a system restore which failed, then I reverted to the previous build of Windows 10, which has worked and the PC now shuts down immediately, as it did before. A few days ago I took the precaution of backing up all my files, just in case. Which WU settings do I...
I might try a system restore and see what happens. Regarding the event logs, I am not sure exactly where in the logs I should be looking as the issue might not necessarily show up as an error. Incidentally, the computer also hangs when restarting.
Further to my recent post regarding the shutdown issue, I have now managed to get the fast startup option on screen and have disabled it, but this has not fixed the issue. I have tried shutting down after booting into safe mode but it still hangs. I am just wondering whether to try booting up...
I have recently updated to Windows 10 Creator Update and since then my PC will not shut down. It just hangs with the "shutting down" message. So far I have tried the following: 1 Hibernate option is disabled. 2 I thought it might be something to do with the fast startup setting being ticked...
I keep getting a nagging pop up suggesting I remove temporary files and delete the old Windows installation. I am not sure why I would want to do this, particularly if I wanted to revert to Windows 7 within the 1 month allowed by Microsoft ?
How do I sync my Facebook Calendar birthdays with Windows 10 Calendar? According to Facebook help there should be an export option when I click Birthdays, but there isn't.
Hi, thanks for your Email. The version of W10 I now have is V1511 OS Build 10586,494. As for the backup image, I thought you meant the whole drive, but just wanted to check. In actual fact I have Acronis True Image 2016 so I will use that to do this task. In the meantime I am trying to get...
Hi Further to your post dated 17 July, I have now upgraded to Windows 10 but not how I had planned! I tried upgrading using the ISO file but then got a screen asking me for a Windows 10 activation code, with no option to bypass that screen. I am sure that option used to be available as of...
I am a bit surprised you say it could take up to 12 hours. Not long ago I upgraded my Dell Laptop to Windows 10 and the whole process took an hour or so, if that. Mind you, there is a lot less stuff stored on my Laptop compared with my main PC. Unless Microsoft come up with any unexpected...
I am planning to upgrade from Windows 7 Home Edition to Windows 10 and have created a Windows 10 ISO file on DVD in readiness. The ISO file was created March 2016. If Microsoft release any updates before the cut-off date in July, will the upgrade automatically apply these updates as and when I...
Thanks, I've figured it out now. By using the tab key on my laptop, I can get to all the language screens. You are correct- I am running the Pro version.
