It's a modern version of the fake SD cards that claim to be huge but are just a small capacity, so your data all gets lost as it gets overwritten.
I use FileLocator Pro. Superb software. It automatically builds a text index from all the files so it is incredibly fast after the first search.
Probably more powerful than most people need. Not very expensive, perpetual licence.
