No luck in finding a driver fr the Serial ATA Controller. Now I tried upgrading to the RC1 build and it won't finish because, low and behold, the Serial ATA Controller won't work, lol.

Lol, you make it sound like a trailer for an adventure movie. Since it's going to be nice and sunny and warm tomorrow, I'm going to take it out in the sunshine to see it better. And with these sausage fingers, I tend to be very careful in there. A good pair of plastic tweezers works wonders...

OK, so fare I have determined that the drives connected to SATA 1,2,3,4 are all recognized and working fine. The drives connected to Raid 1,2,3 are not recognized. I am not using Raid, and have SATA and E-SATA enabled. Now stupid question time: I cannot locate the pins to reset the BIOS...

Windows 7 Windows 7 not recognizing hard drives

Ok , one question, if I reset the BIOS as you describe, will I have to update it again, or does this just reset it to the 0604 defaults? And another thing, I notice in My Computer Device Manager, there is a warning next to Serial ATA Controller. When I bring up properties, it says to reinstall...

I have BIOS 0604. But, I see what you mean about the possible BIOS corruption. I think after checking everything, the reset of BIOS might be the way to go. I will let you know how it goes. and the outcome. Might be a few days now, as I do believe I'm getting a good case of bronchitis:redface...

Lol, gotcha. It's a Mushkin, either 650 or 800 watt, can't remember at the moment . Been running clean for a couple of years. And, yes, I've got a psu tester, and, power okay on cables. Ok , getting nowhere with Asus, I figure I need the Vista64 SATA controller which I can't seem to get. I'm...

Windows 7 Windows 7 not recognizing hard drives

First of all, thanks for all the help and suggestions from all. OK, this is what I've found so far. As I said I have 5 internal SATA hdds. I've also got 2 internal SATA optical drives, which are experiencing no problems. I don't think I have 3 bad drives , so, I rearranged the sata cables on 3...

Windows 7 Windows 7 not recognizing hard drives

Hi, I just installed Windows 7 build 7068. 64bit. I have an Asus P5WD2E-Premium mobo, and 5 Western Digital Hard drives of various sizes, all SATA. Windows recognizes only 2 of the drives, the c drive of course, and only 1 of two WD 400gig hds, which are identical. I know this may be a mobo...
