Windows 7 should I get rid off hiberfile on my SSD ?

The whole OS is constantly writing to the disc, that is clearly no reason not to use it! The additional writes due to use of hibernate are negligible, but, of course, if you feel it is unnecessary for you, disable it and save the disc space, if nothing else.

Windows 7 Dual booting Win7 pro 64 on a SSD drive

Thanks for clarifying. In that case I imagine it could use a lot of memory depending on the workload. If it were me I'd stick with the default pagefile (on the SSD) and keep an eye on RAM usage before I reduced it. If there is anything that can usefully use almost as much memory as you can throw...

Windows 7 Black Border on Full Screen Games

Remember though that, on AMD at least, it has a different overscan setting for each resolution AND each refresh rate, so just setting once for 1080p (or whatever your default is) may not be sufficient.

Windows 7 >Windows 7 External Hard Drive issues. Strategizing for future. (NTFS vs 32)

Yes, as I was saying, I can believe you might have some permissions problems and that sounds like not a bad guide for fixing them. But the freezing will definitely not be caused by them I'm afraid. Reformatting, even to FAT, is also very unlikely to resolve anything.

Windows 7 >Windows 7 External Hard Drive issues. Strategizing for future. (NTFS vs 32)

I don't doubt you could also have permissions problems if you have been moving the drive between systems, but they are solvable. However, this does not sound like permissions at all. If the drive really hangs, I.e. progress bar just stops moving (a more detailed explanation of what you mean...

Windows 7 Black Border on Full Screen Games

You need to adjust the scaling options to eliminate the default underscan (intended to eliminate any default overscan by your TV). You haven't said which GPU you have but this is how to do it on AMD: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=114890&pid=980296#pid980296 It has to be done for...

Windows 7 Dual booting Win7 pro 64 on a SSD drive

As a matter of interest whs, how did you settle on 2GB for pagefile? I have reduced mine to 500MB. 2GB seems overkill for most 8GB systems, unless you run a lot of memory intensive stuff and expect to run out of RAM, in which case 2GB might not be enough! I think Adobe Premiere is still a...

Windows 7 If you're computer genius please help! windows 7 not detecting my graphic card

So I'm confused. Your BIOS seems to be telling you exactly what is wrong - Your monitor cable is plugged into your onboard graphics port instead of your add-on card. It sounds like your BIOS will only let you use one at a time (not true generally, certainly for current generation machines, which...

Windows 7 CPU Over Temperature Error

It says the fan is running @1720. I doubt it will go much faster than that. It sounds like one of the following: - the thing the BIOS thinks is the CPU fan is not! (unlikely if it worked before and the fan headers have not been changed, but still) - the CPU fan has fallen off the heatsink! -...

Windows 7 should I get rid off hiberfile on my SSD ?

Personally I use hibernate too. On my PC With SSD it is almost as quick as returning from sleep. Or at least the difference does not impact my life! One advantage of hibernate over rebooting, which may or may not matter to you, is Wake on LAN works in hibernate mode, not from OFF. I guesss it...

Windows 7 Tricky boot manager issue.

And, just for fun, as the drive was empty. I converted it back to MBR to see if that would stop boot again, but it did not. It seems it must have been a combination of some left-over boot code from the old system partition, maybe because it was a messy XP -> Win7 upgrade, plus some sloppy...

Windows 7 Tricky boot manager issue.

HaHa! It turns out the "phantom" drive was a bug in the firmware for the JMicron chip in my USB 3.0 enclosure. I have updated the firmware and the extra drive has gone.

Windows 7 Tricky boot manager issue.

Sadly the PCI ROM Priority was already set to EFI. Nice idea though. However, good news! I finished the transfer of the 1.6TB to the 3TB drive, deleted all partitions from the "troublesome" drive and changed it to GPT and I now have a totally empty 2TB drive, with no lost 100GB, and the system...

Windows 7 Tricky boot manager issue.

Hmm, it seems unlikely the PCI ROM priority is going to help since EFI is the default and I have never changed it. I can't actually check because my big file transfer is still running. I will check though before I do my repartioning/cleaning of the troublesome drive.

Windows 7 Tricky boot manager issue.

I am definitely going to look at that PCI Rom Priority option. Never even thought of that. Thanks. Anyway, the 1.6TB copy will be done in 4 hours, probably too late for today! But tomorrow AM I will clean the troublesome drive so it has one 2TB GPT partition and we will see what happens!
