    Think we got it. I bought a pair of 2g ram and tested one of the new sticks with the old working one. It made seven passes. I added the other ram and haven't had time to test it yet, but will note that my pc has sped up remarkably since adding it. Thanks for all the help!

    ok. I ran chkdsk and it said the system was clear. now I am running sfc. then I will do Memtest with the second stick (no errors) in a different slot. should I run the ram stick that got errors in a different slot?

    I have 2 sticks of ram total. The first one showed 2 errors. I'm discarding that one. The second stick in the same slot showed no errors, but pc rebooted at very end of 7th pass. I then ran it overnight. It showed no errors after 22 passes, so it lasted well over 7 passes this time. I'm not...

    After waking up, pc was running memtest at 22d pass with no errors. I think I am just going to buy another stick of ram, add it to the other slot and see how that goes.

    I ran one memory stick in the proper slot according to the manual. It turned up 2 errors. Then I placed the other stick in that slot. At 98% of the 7th pass and error-free, just as I was about to end the test, the pc rebooted. What does that mean? The pc has been running for an hour or so...

    I need to run postgres. I'll check out postgres forums and maybe uninstall and upgrade postgres to a more recent version. Then memtest. I'll let you know when I've taken the next step. Thanks again for the help
