Rapaaja. I nearly understood your reply. I am not part of the insider program, slow or fast but my ring is clean ! Ha ha ha :) Updates are bang up-to-date and always will be. Thanks.
No idea about your specific issue but I use a simple batch file to do my backups. I use robocopy (you'll have to download robocopy) for primary backups to one drive and xcopy for cumulative backups to another. Both drives are internal. If you do want to go down this route and are using USB...
One last thought. I am fairly sure the EFI partition needs to be there with a GPT drive. I have it on all my GPT drives but not on my MBR drive. You might not be able to move it so you might be stuck with two partions. Let me know how you get on.
Are you talking to me or Neemo ? Let's assume it's me. I am not sure how best to get rid of the 100MB partition. There are utilities (some free) out there which can help you to get all of the spare space on this 3TB disk into one lump (i.e. get the 100MB partition to the end or the front of the...
Try this. Get diskmgmt running. Right click on either of the two unallocated partitions and allocate a drive letter (E ?) . If that works do the same for the other partition (F?). Don't close diskmgmt. Open ThisPC. Look at the displayed drives to see if your newly allocated drive letters appear...
If it's GPT then you should be able to do as Neemobeer advises easily. I can't see why you would need a rescue disk unless your new install has stopped booting. You should be able to do all you need to do from your new OS on your C drive. Or am I missing something ?
My advice: Lock it down. It's not hard. You can set it to inform you they're available but let you choose whether to install or not. You can then wait to see if the update(s) cause(s) problems before you install it/them on your machine.
Thanks Dave. I have a newish (homebuilt) machine of reasonable spec but I think I'll steer clear. I like my systems to work out-of-the-box. Not that waiting for the main release is any guarantee of that !!!
Is your big disk GPT or MBR ? If it is MBR it must be changed. Open Disk Manager. Right click on the drive. Choose Properties, then go to the Volumes tab. Does the Partition style field say 'GUID Partition Table (GPT)' ? If so all is well. If not let me know and I'll guide you through changing...
