Upgrade your board, soldered in RAM? Decent cheap boards have slots for RAM, usually four. Each should handle 16gb, windows 10 helps, too. I've made 2x8gbs work with 2x4gb older good RAM. Slight help, more cached random access memory can't hurt. A good SSD drive is a very good idea as well.

Windows 10 has trouble with small boards, even recent ones. The latest update bundle tries to install video drivers that makes the whole update roll back on restarting. When you tell it not to, and update your drivers before the update, it goes in after two more tries. Oh boy.

In Windows 10, I use Defender, made by Windows for Windows. I added Sandboxie as well, and still use WinPatrol.

I liked Windows 7, but noticed that updates became a nightmare, the apparent push to Windows 10. The WU update right after SP1 was the initial source of misery. An update should fix a problem, not create one. The only way to keep Windows 7 good is to keep a good image of it with all KB updates...
