Windows 7 How would you rate Windows 7

Why pclinuxos rather than a more standard Linux distribution?

Windows 10 Windows 10 homegroup not working

I didn't know. Are there ways to look into these hidden folders? Maybe booting into Linux? That doesn't inspire confidence. Is this new to Windows 10, or is it also true of earlier versions?

Windows 8 Problems with Acronis True Image 2015 backup in windows 8.1

I've owned and used several paid versions of Acronis and have given up on acronis. They've become progressively worse and 2015 is the worst. More important than speed is the ability to restore your backups. That's why I gave up on Acronis. Try the free version of Macrium Reflect. It may not be...

    Windows 10 Apps vs programs

I always assumed it was an artificial distinction based on apps being much smaller than full blown programs and, because of size, apps were on phones and tablets while programs needed large disks to install into. But I had forgotten that with the ever accelerating push to the cloud even Word and...

    Windows 10 Apps vs programs

I tend to use "app" to refer to the metro apps and "program" to refer to things like excel or Word. But in W10 menus, "app" seems to refer to both which I find confusing. Why the blurring of the distinction? Thanks.

Windows 10 Windows 10 homegroup not working

The homegroup password that appears in Windows 7 and 8.1 is the same as the Microsoft ID? I didn't know that. You mean the password for your Microsoft account for the store? If you have a home wlan, isn't that enough to share files between PCs in the wlan or do you also need to set up a common...

    Windows 10 Network icntv, etc.

Icntv has disappeared. Must have been a neighbor's tv.

    Windows 10 Network icntv, etc.

Thanks OTT. I found the same. I don't have icntv. Maybe the neighbors. I asked because these didn't appear under W7 so I got worried.

Windows 10 Display issue window 10 upgrade

I have no idea if this will help, but I too recently updated an unused Windows 7 laptop to 10. Upgrade went fine and I'm getting to like it. (Not really that different from 8.1). But I noticed that the upgrade reset several of my prior settings. For instance the TouchPad would no longer scroll...

Windows 7 Screen on/with lid movement

Thanks everyone. I'll take it apart (when my wife lets me.....) and see what I find. I don't think it's the sensor because the screen flicks on or off depending on the degree of opening. Say the lid is opened to 90 degrees and the screen is blank, moving the lid a few degrees either way makes...
