Well Mitch ... I replaced my HDD and I have windows 7 perfectly running now. I think ALL the problems I was having I can attribute to the bad HDD. I REALLY appreciate all of your patience and assistance! :) Thanks again!!

I checked the memory (which is brand new) and it was perfect. Then while I was pasting the results in the text file, the dern machine froze again. (sigh)

Are we having fun yet? NOT! OK I 'tried' to do the chkdsk 3 times, and 3 times it froze. I did run the scannow and this was the outcome: Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations. I created a repair disc, so I am going to run a few things and see what happens...
