I have a Toshiba laptop, and the touchpad is working 100% under W7... Obviously had to d/l touchpad driver to get scrolling working, but touchpad itself was working as soon as W7 was installed
Thanks for the reply Jimbo. I have tried what you suggested, but unfortunately it didn't work. :( Although Device Manager seems to suggest the driver in use after the 1st procedure is now the Realtek 6.213.0120.2008, I did notice that there was activity in the system tray suggesting that the...
On my desktop PC I have a Realtek RTL8111B Gigabit Ethernet NIC. W7 installed fine, and has been running a few days OK. However, for some reason, today it is only connecting to my network at 10Mbps, rather than its usual 100Mbps (I can't achieve 1000Mbps due to the limitations of my Netgear...

The worst part of this is that there doesn't appear to be one solitary cause of the problem...it seems to be happening to everyone, but is being prompted by differing actions
I disagree. There must be something common happening, as this problem has started for a lot of people within a short timescale. It would therefore figure that something specific, which is being applied to everyone's installations, is responsible for what is occuring.
I have read elsewhere that this could be linked to the installation of Java...some people are reporting that a System Restore to before the Java install was performed eliminates the problem. I haven't tried yet...too busy Googling!!! :)
Just had a thought...if Windows Update is now no longer working for so many people, does this mean that Windows 7 will not receive any future updates? Hopefully this is not the case, and all that's broken is the means of manually checking for updates. Can't think of a way of checking this though...
