I'm using Less Secure Allow connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop (less secure) I don't know if this happened at the same time I started using an 8 GB flash drive and enabled ReadyBoost for that device. Probably just a coincidence. You didn't do anything simliar...

I'm experiencing the same thing. Quickly flickers the "a Device has malfunctioned" and then remote desktop abruptly closes. You can't login at the console either as you say. A reboot is the only thing that gets it working correctly. This doesn't always happen though. Once or twice a day.
