working on the premise that the white icons are now the defaults set in the shell icon cache... and slowly figuring out how to change them.. will update when i get there...

its something to do with the way the new drivers have integrated the icons into the shell icon cache... there are ways of changing the cache, which i am still exploring .. more info when I get something working.

same problem... earlier thread http://windows7forums.com/windows-7-support/1204-notification-area-icons.html have investigated somewhat and its not that the colour icons arent there, its just that 7 isnt using them... I think its when the drivers reinstalled at upgrade the drivers direct...

yes.. one of of my laptops... ( having " true imaged" it first) though I am increasingly surprised at how much better than vista ( on the other two) this is... short of something drastic happening in the next week, I may change them over too.....

Sadly.. yes... you will have to reinstall all the programs.... I dont even think there is an easy way of undoing the changes you have made, as its at OS level, though if you are desperate, you could reinstall your previous operating system and then wipe out the windows (not windows old)...

I have a bit of a question concerning the notification area icons... when moving to build 6801.... i didnt see any particular changes to these...( power, volume, wifi etc) now having moved up to build 7000. all the icons are white and basic versions of there previously coloured counterparts, and...
