I'm using Avast and windows in-built Windows Defender. They both saved me from trojans a couple of times, so I'm satisfied with their work.

did you try turning off all updates in the settings? Or you're worried about the security?

I'm having the same issue with my external drive. What I do when I get this: move the information to other flash drive and then launch the formatting of the erroneous hard drive. And make sure you make the 'Safe ejection' of the flash drive.
