I am back again but this time with the correct minidump file. This time I was absent when the machine shut down and rebooted. Although it is set not to reboot at the BSOD it did so I have no idea of the cause. The connection was via a cable modem and I was not on line to any web pages or e-mail...

Sorry I must have sent the wrong minidump file. I got rid of the AV virus checker and installed MSE a couple of weeks ago. Everything is OK at the moment so I shall wait for another BSOD and try to get the right minidump file Regards Jack

I got the BSOD but the computer restarted before I could read the screen. Is there any way this can be stopped or slowed down so it can be read?

Thanks for the advice. I did as you suggested and I have now had 24 hours without any unexpected shutdown. Also did a full scan with MSE and got a clear report Jack
