Found things to be a little buggy. Lost a volume, replaced and reinstalled win8 then tried upgrade to 8.1 (Had this before on this machine) now, it's telling me first to update which I did, still won't install, telling me now the machine is not adequate even though it meets the requirements...
It's pretty obvious the HDD isn't there. Something either happened to the volume or it's not connected. You must be able to see your HDD in the setup menu before it can boot from it. I would check the HDD.
I have had some luck with data retrieval by placing the volume in the freezer for about 1/2 hour or 45 minutes. If this does work you must work diligently as when the drive warms up it stops working again.
Well, there you go. Now try another wireless adapter, you can even leave that one in your machine and disable it through device manager. Borrow one if you can and your troubleshooting will be a lot closer.
On installations of win 8 as opposed to win 7 I've found that memory is more critical in win 8. Mixed memory is more forgiving in 7 then 8 from what I've found. Try going with the least amount then add it later and see what happens. If case you don't have any luck with the previous recommendations.
