thank you for all the help, i finally had some free time to address the issue. it worked fine when i plugged in directly to my router and then i was able to do some updates. Apparently there is an update for my atheros 5005g wireless card, but windows update fails whenever i try to install it...

I just installed Build 7100 and it still comes up under available wireless connections several networks in the area, except mine. It cannot be a problem with my router as it is working on 2 other laptops wirelessly. Will installing drivers help at all? as it is picking up networks, just not my own.

I just installed Windows 7 64-bit build 7077 on my Acer Aspire 5100 laptop Previously I had Ultimate Vista 64 bit and it was working fine. My problem is when I go to connect to my network, it shows a list of networks, but mine is not on it. I am currently connected with 2 other laptops directly...
