Have you tried a keyboard and mouse with the PS/2 connector to see if that may provide you the ability to use the input devices?

For HDD problems like this, I would recommend SpinRite (paid product) to see if it could help recover the bad sectors. It worked wonders for 2 of my drives that were almost dead.

I agree that you should run a malware removal tool. However I would first boot into Safemode and then run the tool

I really like it. I am still getting used to Windows 10 as I put it on some machines to try it out. However windows 7 have a comforting sense of familiarity.
