Yes I removed AVG after that last crash. I tried to update the BIOS using MSI's updater tool 'Live Update'. It downloads the new BIOS fine, but stops working when I tell it to use it (and I've tried lots of times). I found the file it downloaded manually, but the exe file seems to do nothing...

I've had a further thought. I may be wrong, but I think the crashing problem started after I installed my current graphics card. The old one pretty much blew up whilst gaming, but I don't think the system used to crash at that point. Not sure if that helps, but thought I'd mention it.
