    Windows 10 October 2018 Update

The update went well for me. There was a concern. Microsoft Photos kept running in the background. I had to go into Settings - Privacy - Background apps and shut it off to get it to stop. Update: I went back in there and shut off several more apps. It calmed down the background activity a lot...

    Is a anti-virus program needed?

From AT&T Community Forums: Re: Can I use a different modem AND router to connect with Uverse Internet? Yes. You have to have the AT&T provided gateway. Now, nothing is stopping you from turning both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz radios completely off and plugging in your own 3rd party product. Our...

    Is a anti-virus program needed?

I thought I'd reset our router's DNS Servers to Comodo since we've changed to AT&T. They don't allow manually changing it. Their attitude is in essence "If you don't like it, go to another company". If you change it in the individual computer does the router change you back to their servers?

Steven Black Hosts File causing problems

I was using the Steven Black Hosts File to block malware and Ads. But lately the DNS Client kept activating and using 30 - 50% of my CPU and blocking me from doing anything online. By googling the symptoms of my DNS Client getting stuck like that I found that it can be caused by too large of a...

    unknown ssd/harddrive space

This might not even pertain to this issue. But I thought I'd just throw it out there. My laptop came with 8 GB RAM. When I was running it like that it would claim like 10 or 11 GB for Pagefile. A little while back I added a second 8 GB RAM stick. Now it only claims 2.4 GB for the Pagefile...

    Fans not working

Yeah I've played with the tiles thing in the native start menu a little. I used to be concerned about the active tabs that changed constantly. I thought it was too much overhead. But my current computer is the first one I've had with any balls. I used to freak out when I'd find that I was using...

    Fans not working

I had it at one time but then the next version broke Classic Shell. Then I tried again and ESET wouldn't work. I've had it with new versions breaking my favorite stuff. You're showing the Dark Explorer but that's not my Start Menu. This is mine.

    Fans not working

The thing is I saw enough of the dark file explorer to realize I'll never be satisfied til I have it. I really really don't like white backgrounds. I do whatever is required to not have them. But I'm not giving up ESET and the Classic Start Menu. Insider builds have broken both of them now. I...

    Fans not working

I've been setting up some other stuff lately. I tried the Windows Insider thing again. I really want that dark file manager. But, of course, it broke something I won't be without again. This time it was ESET. So I rolled it back and that required another reset. Maybe by the time the Redstone 5...

    Fans not working

I can't use that. It conflicts with the Dell installed monitor and I get horrible noises from the speakers. Anyway it looks like my fans are fine now. Thanks for the suggestion buddy. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

    Build 16299.rs3_release_SVC_escrow.180502-1908 issues

It sounds like you need to do a clean installation. The easy way is in: Settings - Update and Security - Recovery - More Recovery Options - Learn how to start fresh with a clean installation of Windows. I've done this and it worked fine. There are people here who will tell you it needs to be...
