Windows 10 Frequent, Semi-random BSODs (Thread stuck in device driver)

Hello kemical, i finally gave up. I even tried it with +95mV vcore but the card is still crashing. I ordered a new card from Nvidia and will replace the AMD card. My wife said I have already invested too much time. The new card has 3 year warranty with watercooler already fitted, when it shows...

Windows 10 Frequent, Semi-random BSODs (Thread stuck in device driver)

I got the idea from this youtube video: Unfortunately it did not work with that ASUS tweak tool. It did not recognize my card. So i hacked the bios to up the clock to 420 MHz. BR Sven

Windows 10 Frequent, Semi-random BSODs (Thread stuck in device driver)

update: All of that didnt't work. I have a new strategy now. I modified the VGA bios with a tool and did increase the frequency from the lowest power state from original 300 MHz to 420 Mhz. This means in idle case core clock will never go below 420 MHz And I upped the core voltage by +44 mV. I...

Windows 10 Frequent, Semi-random BSODs (Thread stuck in device driver)

Hey kemical, you are still on the job ;) All my crashes are still there . Now i discovered that FurMark burn in Test also produced the black screen issue under full load, which I before never observed. Before it was just happening at light load or in idle case. I experimented with down...

Windows 10 Frequent, Semi-random BSODs (Thread stuck in device driver)

Hello, I just reply to this old thread. I rebuild my system and took away the air cooler from my R9 290X and retrofitted my EK waterblock. Basically i had it in my cupboard for long time now but i was too lazy to rebuild my system. With the old air cooler there was not enough space for the pump...

You can use 15.12 It is working without BSOD. They start with 16.1.1 I tested them all.

Windows 10 Frequent, Semi-random BSODs (Thread stuck in device driver)

Hello You two, Basically Circinae is correct. I am not 100% sure that the option AMD suggested is exactly the registry entry changed by the tuning tool. AMD support is very frustrating. They have a ticket system and if I reply there are different persons in charge almost every time. Sometimes...

Windows 10 Frequent, Semi-random BSODs (Thread stuck in device driver)

Hello All, AMD suggested to try the newest driver and toggle the Power Efficiency feature: === AMD reply start === I certainly do understand that you have done pretty much to narrow down the issue, however, could you please give one last try by toggling the power efficiency option provided in...

Windows 10 Frequent, Semi-random BSODs (Thread stuck in device driver)

Hello Space, i was wondering why it should work for you as in the default setting clock blocker is not enabled without a game running. Circinae enabled it during idle desktop and you did not. BR Sven

Windows 10 Frequent, Semi-random BSODs (Thread stuck in device driver)

Lol. There is already a new one ? I can continue like this forever. This is not efficient. AMD has to analyze now the change that broke it. It is quite simple. The use their version control system make a diff of the changes and then make suspicous changes optional. Best would be to make them...

Windows 10 Frequent, Semi-random BSODs (Thread stuck in device driver)

I installed 16.11.3 now and I am waiting for the crash. I just want to move forward in the support protocol of the AMD support. BR Sven

Amd answer to was: Please first install the newest 16.11.3 and check if the issues are resolved there :/ Did somebody from you install that already ?

@Space: That is interesting because in the default settings is does not block outside of 3D games.I think the initial use case for this program was guarantee a constant clockrate during gaming.

This is also my feeling. @Circinae: >You can even monitor the clock speeds to watch when it triggers. This is normal and happens also in 15.12. The clock speeds are supposed to change based on the GPU load.
