Nevermind, I got it working. I had the jacks custom-configured and the new installation didn't keep the old jacks config. Also, turns out that the new software doesn't like the matrix button on my centre speaker; if that button is pushed in, the centre speaker and subwoofer don't work at all.

I installed the latest drivers on the Realtek site, and since then, only the rear speakers have worked. I've fiddled around with the settings to no avail. And suggestions?

I'll give that a try. Thing is, I can see it working, it's still animated. The only things that stop responding are the things that I try to use.

I recently found that one of my hard drives is failing. My comp freezes for a few seconds when I access the hard drive, and once, my GPU crashed during this freeze and the OS had to recover it. Is it possible that the HDD is causing my machine's poor performance?
