Just an update, after trying every possible fix for anything remotely RELATED to this problem but nothing working, I finally decided that it must be my power supply that was the problem, because it was by far the oldest (and cheapest) component on the machine and malfunctioning power supplies...

I know why it has been saying that my system doesn't meet the minimum requirements to install those drivers, I have both a built-in graphics chipset (Intel G35) and my PCIE card, which I guess disables the built-in one when it is active. I took my better card out to try to install the drivers...
