I would think you need the correct 32 bit system to make the appropriate recovery disc

I had this same issue on a previous laptop, It turns out the cpu was indeed overheating I had the fan ect cleaned and it worked normally again

Its only a tidbit, and you may have already tried this, but I would change the settings back to default, and then restart and make a new custom plan with your 2 hour settings and see if it works. Sorry, I see you have tried

Thanks for your advice Joe, I understand the bloatware issue but these eg: Nortons and Office trial can be easily removed They are a pain, and remnants are probably left behind, but the pros of having Toshiba drivers and software is available to me Hopefully, the recovery option with the disks...
