I don't have a license. Any EASY way to do a clean install of Win 10? Easy for a non geek?.... My new computer build is fresh enough that a "start all over" isn't a big deal. Only the operating system is on the boot drive so a wipe and install is OK if it'll speed things up. I'm using a vacation...

Forgot to add. I've had several BSOD's at various times. I stopped trying to look up the reasons after the first several were so vague as to be useless. Joe

Thanks. Hopefully updates come very soon. Web loads seem to be getting much slower regardless the browser I use. Game lock ups are worse as well. I'm staying optimistic but those problems as well as not being able to use the only games/simulators I'm interested in may drive me back to a clean...

No. Not trying to save the browser to the desktop. I like to save websites to the desktop. Like "shortcut" in I.E. or Deskcut in FireFox. Joe

Yeah, I finally found that. I also found that there is no desktop shortcut function in Edge. Looks like I'll be staying with FireFox for my browser. Joe

Thanks to kemical's suggestion in my last thread I used the media creation tool. Took a deep breath and clicked "upgrade now". Off it went installing Win 10. It didn't take all that long. I went off and did some other things while it was updating. I'm guessing it took well under 30 minutes to...

I got a little curious and took a look at my Windows update history. Seems it tried to upgrade to Win 10 beginning 7/29. It has tried 5 times since with failures each time. Code 80240020. The help section just says to look for it again in available updates. It doesn't come up because it looks...

Thanks for the reply Mike. Yeah, this does seem to be quite the gray area. They're offering Win 10 for free and I'm all for free. Not really on a mission to steal it though. In the next few days I'm sure more info on this will come to light. Joe

OK. I just built a new computer last month. Did the usuals. SSD for boot drive. 4TB worth of storage so little more than Win 7 on the boot drive. If the Win 10 upgrade hoses the boot drive it's no big deal to start again. Everything important is already on other drives. Now on to my stupid...
