Do you used to use AC97 drivers? I have a similar problem with a AMN2 sometimes it sorts of does not recognize the fact the jacks are connected. If I do boot in linux and play a sound then come back to win it comes back to normal. Can you try this?

I did the normal procedures, after a minor win update I seem to have now 2 automatic restore points despite the fact the system reporting the functionality as disabled. I will give the system some more days and see if it keeps doing the backup despite the message.
