Got same Problem with Vlc and got it solved, A solution to similar problem is on http://angrytechnician.wordpress.com/2010/05/24/how-to-fix-a-brokenempty-jump-list-in-windows-7/ this link. Although it is for explorer there but can be used with vlc... Just delete a file which contains some names...
