Solved my problem by going to: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1536711 the driver was not installed. I had to go to device manager and find the ati folder and then it installed the drivers needed. I'm now back to 1920x1080 resolution. Yeah! :) problem solved.

Windows 8 upgrading to Windows 8.1

I won't do anymore preview upgrades again. A few nice extras but not much different than 8.0. And now that I re-installed win 8.0 I had to call to get it activated again and I can't get the right legacy drivers for my ATI RV530 video so the resolution is too big. A big headache for nothing! I'm...

I did a clean install and had to call to reactivate and then I can't find the legacy drivers for the ati rv530 video. someone sent me a link to the amd page and its installed but the resolution is still bad. Why can't win 8 handle a 5 year old driver?

installed the drivers and rebooted but still in the wrong resolution its set to 1152x864 when it should be 1920x1080. I did have the right drivers before my mistake of trying out win 8.1. Now what do I have to do to get it to work?

Windows 8 How to install driver for ATI RV530 video

thanks I'll give it a try. I've gone back to Linux Mint 15 since it handles my hardware better than windows and it's easier to use. I look at win 8 as experimental. Hope they get it right some day. Its fine on a new computer but not so good for a 4 year old PC.

Windows 8 upgrading to Windows 8.1

Thanks. I did give it a try because it's not a hard drive I use much. Win 8 is more experimental. My main hard drive on this PC is Linux Mint 15. So if I need to reinstall Win 8.0 do I have to format the hard drive and reinstall my original win 8 disc? Or will there be an option to over write...

Windows 8 upgrading to Windows 8.1

I would like to upgrade from Win 8 to the new Windows 8.1 preview and try it out. Once I install Win 8.1 preview will I be able to install the Win 8.1 final over it when it comes out this Fall?

Windows 8 Internet Explorer 10 is gone from program list

Thanks, it did open IE10. But when trying to create a shortcut, It says it can't find location. "The file C:\windows\system32\iexplore.exe cannot be found". I pinned it to the taskbar for now. How would I add it to the tile desktop?

Windows 8 Internet Explorer 10 is gone from program list

OK, I'll give that a try. I didn't think IE 10 could be gone... just hidden and the Start Menu 8 probably caused it. I uninstalled it. Thanks.

Windows 8 Internet Explorer 10 is gone from program list

I rebooted after uninstalling start menu 8 and IE 10 its still gone. I can't even find a way to reinstall it. Win 8 is rather confusing. Maybe that's why I've been using Ubuntu lately. it's easier and better organized. I hope Win 8.1 improves things. Let me know if there is a way to fix this...

Windows 8 Internet Explorer 10 is gone from program list

Thanks, maybe that's why it's gone, because of start menu 8. I'll uninstall the give it a try.

Windows 8 Internet Explorer 10 is gone from program list

Just plugged in Win 8 again and did what you said about setting IE as default and rebooting. Nothing happens. I guess I'll live without IE 10. Can't you even reinstall it? or I'll go back to Chrome browser. It's surprising that MS would let this happen.

Thanks, I'll give it a try later. I never really use IE, was just curious how it could disappear.
