I have met the same problem with my SD memory card. It's always said 'Write protection', but when I plug off and plug in for a few times, I can do anything with it including formatting. Maybe you can also try to format it under Windows XP and then see what happens with Win7

Check Computer\Manage\Disk Management, see if you can see the USB. Then try to 'Change the drive letter' in order to allocate a drive letter to your USB. Then you may see you drive showing up

You can try to plug off and then plug in the disk,sometime it can solve the problem. OR You can move all the files to a safe location and format the disk.

I have upgraded from Pro to Ultimate before. Everything is OK. I guess you have the OEM version of Windows 7. In this case, you can just get a professional key from the internet (or the key you have bought) and fresh install Win7. More suggestions about OEM can be found at My Digital Life...

For Windows 7, usually you can download the sound drive via Windows update. Try to refresh the Windows update list, maybe you can find the drive.

I have met similar problem when I encrypt by PGP. I lost all my data that time If you can still access the disk, move all the files to a safe place. Then try followng: Encrypt the disk again, and decrypt it. If it doesn't work, you have to format it.

I have met the same problem. when I tried to record it, It always remind me that the disk is not blank. I reformat the rewritabe disk many times but still never worked. Strange!

For sync, dropbox and live mesh are better. They also have online free storage.

You might have set the non-stop backup for Acronis, I suggest you delete the old backup files and backup again using full or incremental backup and schedule the backup as you want. There's a discussion in this link Link Removed - Not Found
