Several of those fixes are aimed at Xbox, PC Game Pass, Steam and Epic players, so Windows and Xbox owners have reasons to look past the trailer.
Launch and platforms
Gematsu lists the game as available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version due in March 2027. Wikipedia's entry on the game adds some background: 007 First Light was released for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on 27 May 2026, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version scheduled for March 2027. The same entry says it had sold 4 million units by August 2026.
There wasn't much warning. TheGamer reported that IO Interactive had teased the DLC earlier in the week, but Extended Operations was actually shadowdropped and is available to download for all players now.
Summary: Extended Operations is a free 1.3.0 update for every current platform. It went live without a long promotional run-up.
Download sizes
IO Interactive's patch notes list these update sizes, and Prima Games republished the same table:
| Platform | Update size |
|---|---|
| PlayStation 5 | 11.9 GB |
| Steam | 14 GB |
| Xbox Series X|S | 13.5 GB |
| Microsoft PC (Xbox app / PC Game Pass) | 8 GB |
| Epic Games Store | 13.6 GB |
The Microsoft PC number is worth a second look. When IO Interactive shipped the small 1.0.3 hotfix in June, its table listed Microsoft PC 57.93 GB*, while the Steam download for that patch was 818.5 MB. At 8 GB, 1.3.0 is the smallest download of any platform in the current table. The patch notes don't say what changed, and the asterisk in the June note isn't explained, so I won't guess at the reason. If you remember a minor hotfix forcing a near-full reinstall through the Xbox app, this update should be much smaller.
These are the published sizes. What you actually download can vary with your platform and the files you already have installed.
New Game+ and the "00" difficulty
New Game+ was one of the most requested features. Twisted Voxel's rundown of the patch notes confirms that completing the entire campaign is required to unlock New Game Plus. It has three parts:
- Mission Wardrobe: You can change outfits from the journal at any point in an NG+ run, then restart from a checkpoint you choose to see the new outfit.
- Gadget on Demand: You can swap gadgets mid-mission, but only gadgets unlocked at the corresponding point in the story can be used. Q's gadgets still arrive in the order the campaign gives them to you.
- "00" difficulty: This is the new top tier. Enemies spot Bond faster and hit harder, and gadget resources only restore a fraction of their usage on 00 difficulty. It also requires a finished campaign.
In practice, if you haven't seen the credits yet, the two biggest features in this update are locked. Photo Mode and the TacSim content are available right away.
Photo Mode
Photo Mode was promised in a roadmap that was shared at launch, according to TheGamer. The site also called its late arrival "a bit annoying." Prima Games describes it as a dedicated way to capture Bond with adjustable camera settings, overlays, filters, visual effects, and poses. It's late, but it's here, and on PC it works alongside the usual Windows capture tools.
TacSim: Valhalla Protocol and Jungle Heist
The two headline additions both live in TacSim:
- Valhalla Protocol is a new driving activity set in Slovakia. Players drive the armed Aston Martin Valhalla with machine guns and missile launchers. Insider Gaming says it's a timed race in which players compete globally across four versions of the track. TheGamer notes that the car only appeared in one brief but awesome scene towards the end of the game, so this gives it more screen time.
- Jungle Heist returns to The Pearl Hotel in Vietnam. Insider Gaming says players need to acquire the code of a secret safe, steal its contents, and then escape through the roof of the villa. IO Interactive says each attempt plays out differently.
There are also two new TacSim weapons, each with an unlock cost:
| Weapon | Clearance Level | Intel cost |
|---|---|---|
| Storm 12 Gauge | 20 | 6,000 |
| Squire Marksman Rifle | 18 | 4,000 |
Three new TacSim outfits, Observant Spy, Leisure Beam and First Class, are unlocked by default. MI6 HQ also gets Jack the Bulldog, who sits next to Dr. Selina Tan's TacSim area. You can pet him.
Time-limited rewards
There are two dates to note:
- Grey Standard outfit: Connect your game to an IOI Account by November 1 to unlock it. It's a separate reward from the default-unlocked outfits, so link your account before the deadline.
- Twitch Drop "One More": It runs from October 1 at 15:00 UTC to October 16 at 17:00 UTC. The patch notes don't say what the item is or how to claim it, so check the official drop details before you start watching.
The 700-plus fixes: what matters for Windows and Xbox
IO Interactive attributes the "over 700" figure partly to player reports, support tickets and feedback. The notes list fixes by subsystem and by mission but don't break the total down. These are the ones that matter most for Microsoft-platform and PC players:
Xbox and PC Game Pass
- An Xbox-specific achievement problem that could crash the game at startup has been fixed.
- On PC Game Pass, the "What if..?" achievement could fail to unlock after finishing a TacSim Operation. That's fixed.
- Xbox Series S fixes cover character LOD and skinning problems, character models that looked too dark in Performance Mode, lighting smearing, and NPCs spawning in mid-air or appearing late.
PC generally
- A pipeline-cache generation problem that could crash the game on launch has been fixed. If you've had crashes at startup on PC, this is the fix to try first.
- A performance drop on the Save Slot Selection screen on certain GPUs has been fixed.
- A dark shadow artefact that could appear with Path Tracing enabled is gone.
- Mouse-and-keyboard fixes: toggling Q-Lens while aiming no longer resets Bond's aim, rebinding gadget inputs now updates the Q-Lens icons, and the Customize input options are clearer.
- Button prompts no longer show the wrong controller type when two different controllers are connected.
Epic Games Store
- Fixes for lost access to rewards after a restart, the Intel Shop appearing empty after a restart, and placeholder or wrongly sized achievement icons.
Everywhere
- Crash fixes covering rendering, animation and game states, including one that hit after several minutes of play.
- Save-slot and checkpoint fixes. A save slot could become partly unusable after exiting to the main menu, and reloading could block opportunities or leave Bond stuck inside a room.
- An exploit that let players gain extra Focus by pressing the Focus input just before and after firing has been closed.
- Weapon-handling animations have been reworked across the arsenal, covering reloads, aiming transitions, swaps and throws. Bond can also now be thrown off ledges, just like his enemies.
- TacSim challenges that failed to award XP or Intel, or couldn't be completed, have been fixed, including "Slow Learner," "Shotgun Specialist" and "The Driver."
Summary: If you shelved the game over a crash, a stuck save or a missing achievement, check the notes for your platform and chapter before you start a new run.
Analysis
Extended Operations follows the live-service model IO Interactive used with Hitman: release the game, then keep adding free content and fixes. Earlier patches set the pattern. Comicbook.com reported that update 1.1.0 in July added TacSim missions and weapons, with others tied to performance struggles that the game has had on specific platforms.
There are two caveats.
- Prerequisites: The best new features, New Game+ and "00", are only for players who have finished the campaign. Players still partway through the story get Photo Mode and TacSim content, plus the fixes.
- The 700 figure: The notes list a lot of categories, but the total comes from IO Interactive and isn't broken down. The detailed chapter-by-chapter fixes are more useful than the number.
For Windows and Xbox players, the useful points are the 8 GB Microsoft PC download, the startup-crash fixes on Xbox and PC, the Game Pass achievement fix and the Series S visual fixes. If you play on PC through the Xbox app, check that the update has installed, link your IOI Account before November 1 for the Grey Standard outfit, and try Photo Mode.
