What the leaker actually said
According to VideoCardz, a forum member asked whether AMD might reveal RDNA 5 cards in the next three to five months. The user was hoping for a rival to Nvidia's RTX PRO 6000. Kepler_L2's answer was a flat "No." A follow-up asked about June 2027, and the leaker pointed to Computex 2027 as the earliest realistic opportunity. Club386 quotes the leaker as saying the reveal would be "most likely later in the year."
The practical effect is that CES in January 2027 looks unlikely to bring RDNA 5. Computex 2027 is scheduled for June 1–4, 2027, according to Guru3D. The leaker indicated that a later presentation may be more likely.
Three dates that shouldn't be confused
Coverage tends to blur three separate things:
- Earliest possible reveal: Computex 2027, per Kepler_L2.
- More likely reveal: later in 2027, per the same leaker.
- Retail availability: this is separate. TechSpot's June 2026 report said board partners speaking to Dutch outlet Tweakers expected cards by mid-2027 in some cases. Others said availability could slip into late 2027 or even early 2028.
Kepler_L2's comment concerns an announcement, not shelves. A late-2027 reveal could still be followed by a slower rollout.
Is this really a delay?
Not provably. VideoCardz notes that the same leaker expected RDNA 5 around mid-2027 back in December. The new comment suggests even the presentation may come later than that. But Kepler_L2 did not explain whether AMD's schedule had changed. Tbreak makes the same point: calling it a confirmed delay would imply an official deadline that AMD has not provided. Guru3D also calls the new estimate broadly consistent with the earlier prediction.
Credibility is a fair question. eTeknix says Kepler_L2 has a reasonable record on AMD's plans. Still, a forum reply is not a roadmap, and AMD has not published a consumer RDNA 5 schedule.
One GPU in 2027?
VideoCardz recounts a September rumor, also attributed to Kepler_L2. Under it, only the AT2 chip would arrive in 2027. The rumored AT0, AT3 and AT4 parts would follow in 2028. VideoCardz adds that if AT2 is still planned for 2027, a late-year announcement would leave only a short window before its release. All of that is unconfirmed. The same goes for the GDDR7 and 384-bit configurations the original report mentions, which this reporting does not substantiate.
What it means for RDNA 4 owners and buyers
AMD's current lineup is RDNA 4. Per AMD's February 2025 announcement, the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 were due to reach board-partner shelves from March 6, 2025. They launched with $599 and $549 suggested U.S. prices, 16 GB of GDDR6, and a 256-bit bus.
If the successor really is a late-2027 story, Guru3D notes RDNA 4 could remain AMD's primary discrete gaming architecture for more than two years. That is arithmetic, not an announced AMD support or pricing plan. Nobody has confirmed that RDNA 4 prices or stock will change.
A practical takeaway for upgraders:
- Don't wait for RDNA 5 if your current GPU is struggling now.
- If you're holding out, treat Computex 2027 as a possible first look, not a purchase date.
- Expect retail availability to trail any reveal, as RDNA 4 did. TechSpot notes it debuted at CES 2025 but the first cards didn't ship until March.
Nvidia may be in a similar spot
TechSpot says current expectations put Nvidia's next consumer GPUs, likely based on Rubin, in the second half of 2027. It also notes chatter about slippage into 2028. TechSpot adds that AI demand has pulled attention toward data-center GPUs. That is background analysis, not evidence of why RDNA 5 timing moved. Rumored timelines for the two vendors line up loosely, but neither is confirmed.
Bottom line
The verified part is small: a leaker says no RDNA 5 reveal before Computex 2027 and likely later, and AMD hasn't confirmed anything. The speculation around specs, model counts and reasons is just that. Until AMD says something, plan around the RX 9000 series you can actually buy today.
