Pixel-art naval battle with fighter jets, missiles, and a warship attacking over a coastal city.
Some weekends call for a 100-hour open-world epic. Others call for a cheap jet, a sky full of enemies and a fire button. Angle Of Attack is firmly the second kind. The retro 2D aerial shooter from developer 9Ratones and publisher Ratalaika Games came out on September 25, 2026, on Windows PC through Steam, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.

This isn't a Windows platform milestone. It's a small cross-platform indie launch, and for PC and Xbox players the useful parts are what it costs, what it runs on and which Xbox features it supports.

What's out, and where

The publisher describes the game as a fast-paced 2D fighter-jet shooter with missions over fields, cities and open sea. TheXboxHub's launch listing names the formats as Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and GoNintendo reported that Ratalaika Games has released Angle of Attack on the Switch on launch day.

The official storefronts back up the launch:

  • Steam (Windows): Released September 25, 2026. Single-player, with 11 Steam achievements and Family Sharing.
  • Xbox Store: Available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Listed as Optimized for Xbox Series X|S, with Smart Delivery, Xbox achievements, Xbox presence and cloud saves.
  • PlayStation Store: One purchase covers both PS4 and PS5. One player.
  • Nintendo eShop: Switch, listed as compatible with Switch 2. One player.

Ratalaika should be a familiar name to console bargain hunters. The company describes itself as a video game company focused on porting & publishing great games to the console market. It has worked with 9Ratones many times before, on titles such as Zombies, Aliens and Guns, Evil Diary and CyberHeroes Arena DX.

Summary: The game is out now on every major platform family. Each store lists it as single-player, and none of them mention multiplayer.

Pricing: the base price and the launch sale

The standard price is $5.99 / €5.99 on every platform. TheXboxHub lists the UK price as £5.99. The euro price comes from the publisher's announcement; the store pages we checked didn't confirm it independently.

Right now the US Steam and Xbox listings both show a 20% launch discount to $4.79. Steam says its offer runs until October 9. When we checked, the Xbox Store said its sale had 13 days left. Once the sale ends, the price goes back to $5.99.

Windows PC requirements

Steam's minimum requirements for Windows are short:

ComponentMinimum (per Steam)
OSWindows 10 or later, 64-bit
Processor2.0+ GHz (64-bit)
GraphicsOpenGL 3.2 support
SoundAny

The listing gives no RAM figure, no storage figure and no recommended specs, so don't read performance targets into it. For scale, the Switch version on Nintendo's regional store is only 69 MB.

The graphics line asks for a feature level, not a particular card. OpenGL 3.2 support is very common on any reasonably recent GPU or integrated graphics, but "common" isn't a guarantee. If you're using an old machine or a stripped-down virtual machine, check that your graphics driver really supports OpenGL 3.2 before you buy. Also note the 64-bit requirement: a 32-bit Windows 10 install won't meet it.

Language support differs by store. Steam lists English, Spanish (Spain) and Japanese, and marks French as unsupported. Console stores list other combinations; the Nintendo and PlayStation pages we saw include German. Check the store page for your own platform.

Summary: Any 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 PC with a working OpenGL 3.2 driver meets the published minimums.

What you're actually getting

The publisher's feature list promises:

  • Fast-paced 2D aerial combat in a retro pixel-art style
  • 30 missions
  • More than 30 enemy types across land, sea and air
  • Three difficulty modes

The story is about as simple as they come. A rogue squadron called the Clever Foxes Clan has already overwhelmed reconnaissance units and breached coastal defences, and your squadron is what's left to stop it. Mission goals include shooting down incoming warheads, destroying huge air fortresses, hitting hardened ground targets, and taking on submarines and aircraft carriers.

As of launch there isn't much independent opinion yet. Steam showed no user reviews, and Metacritic said there are no critic reviews for this game yet. One early review, from Game Critix, says the game takes a deliberately old-school approach to arcade combat, focused on reflexes and positioning rather than simulation. Keep that in mind if the Steam "Simulation" tag has you picturing flight physics. The name refers to a real aerodynamics term, but this is an arcade shooter.

The US Xbox listing carries an ESRB Everyone 10+ rating for fantasy violence and mild blood.

Should Windows and Xbox players care?

At $5.99 or less, Angle Of Attack costs about as much as an impulse buy. Here's a rough guide based on what the stores and early coverage show:

  1. Achievement hunters: Ratalaika's catalog has a long-standing reputation among completionists (that's general community knowledge, not something the stores claim). Steam lists 11 achievements, and Xbox supports achievements too.
  2. Xbox players who also game on PC: The Xbox listing includes PC as a supported device, and cloud saves are listed. Before you buy, check the store page to see whether your purchase covers both devices.
  3. Low-spec PC owners: With minimums this low, old laptops and small office PCs have a real chance of running it.
  4. Anyone wanting depth: Thirty missions and three difficulty levels is a modest amount of content. With so few reviews so far, it may be worth waiting for more player opinions before counting on it to last.

The bottom line

Angle Of Attack is a small, cheap, single-player jet shooter that launched on every major platform on September 25. The Windows requirements are minimal, the Xbox version supports Smart Delivery and cloud saves, and the launch discount won't last. It's a modest release, but not a bad pick for a quick pixel-art shooter to fill a free evening.
